HYDERABAD: A deer sustained injuries after being attacked by a group of stray dogs near the South Campus hostel of Hyderabad Central University (HCU).
According to reports, the incident occurred after recent tree cutting in the area forced the deer out of its natural habitat and closer to human-inhabited zones within the campus. As the deer wandered near the hostel blocks, it was chased and attacked by dogs.
University security personnel quickly intervened and shifted the injured animal to a veterinary hospital for treatment. The incident has raised concerns among students and environmentalists, who allege that deforestation on campus is disturbing local wildlife habitats and increasing such conflicts.
Calls have been made for immediate measures to prevent further incidents and protect the remaining wildlife on campus.
