Hyderabad: Dengue cases surfaced in Qutubullapur Circle of Hyderabad, with officials warning of rising risk during the monsoon. Health experts said that early detection and treatment are crucial, as delay could lead to severe complications.
Qutubullapur Circle covers Ranga Reddy Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Qutubullapur and Jeedimetla divisions. Locals alleged that poor sanitation and unchecked mosquito breeding due to stagnant water had triggered the outbreak. They accused entomology officials of failing to implement effective prevention measures.
Currently, a 10-year-old boy from Dattatreya Nagar, a 50-year-old woman from Venkateshwara Nagar, a seven-year-old Radhesh Madhavan from Bhagyalakshmi Colony, and a 35-year-old Sudhadevi from Sri Krishna Nagar are undergoing treatment for dengue.

Residents said that despite confirmed cases in Dattatreya Nagar, Bhagyalakshmi Colony, Sri Krishna Nagar and Venkateshwara Nagar, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had not initiated control operations. They demanded coordinated action across departments to contain the spread.
Doctors advised households to eliminate water stagnation near homes, including in discarded tyres, coolers, coconut shells, pots and bottles, where larvae thrive. They noted that Aedes mosquitoes emerge within three to four days from larvae. Residents were also urged to discard rotting fruits and vegetables and to use mosquito control sprays regularly.
