Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka inaugurated the state-wide Bathukamma festival in Warangal on Sunday, expressing hopes for prosperity, peace, and women’s financial empowerment across Telangana.
He launched the nine-day celebration at the Thousand Pillar Temple under the Telangana Music Academy’s aegis. The opening event featured a cultural program that included a Kakatiya-themed dance performance and a dance-drama based on the life of Telangana freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said women worship Goddess Gauramma with flowers during Bathukamma, showing deep devotion and faith. He expressed hope that their prayers would bring well-being and progress to the people of Telangana.

He further stated that the festival is being celebrated across Telangana under the Telangana Cultural Department’s guidance. He praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for organizing Bathukamma programs on a grand scale this year.
The Deputy Chief Minister wished for a vibrant celebration throughout the nine days and emphasized the importance of women’s financial growth and empowerment.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, Seethakka, Konda Surekha, and other officials also attended the program, which combined cultural heritage with community prayers.
