Hyderabad: Acting swiftly to protect public health, Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy on Monday conducted a surprise inspection at Deccan Palm restaurant near Tarnaka Crossroads after reports emerged of the outlet serving spoiled chicken in its biryani.
During the raid, the Deputy Mayor found unhygienic and decayed food items being used in the kitchen. She expressed strong displeasure towards the restaurant management for their negligence and lack of regard for food safety.
Speaking to food safety officials accompanying her, she instructed them to carry out an immediate inspection of all non-hygienic ingredients at the restaurant and to take strict action against those responsible.
“We are committed to safeguarding the health and safety of Hyderabad’s citizens,” she said. “Any establishment that compromises on food quality will face legal action. We will not tolerate the sale of spoiled or substandard food to the public.”
The Deputy Mayor warned that hotels and restaurants failing to meet hygiene standards would face penalties. She also announced that special teams were being set up across the city to monitor food safety at all restaurants, hotels, and tiffin centres.
“These measures are crucial to ensuring that every citizen gets healthy, hygienic food,” she added.
