HYDERABAD: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender issued a high alert in Hyderabad following orders from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, directing immediate deportation of Pakistan nationals residing in the city.
Receiving reports that around 200 Pakistan nationals are currently in Hyderabad, DGP Jitender announced stringent measures. He ordered that all Pakistan nationals in Telangana must leave India without delay, warning that visas would be cancelled after 27 April. Those holding medical visas were given an extension until 29 April, but were cautioned that no further stay would be allowed thereafter.
DGP Jitender stressed that anyone attempting to remain illegally would face strict legal action. He stated that the Telangana police would identify, apprehend, and remove any Pakistan nationals overstaying without valid documentation.
Confirming surveillance on the situation, DGP Jitender said that monitoring had been intensified on the 208 Pakistan nationals currently present in Hyderabad. He warned that the police would not hesitate to take action against anyone violating visa conditions.
Earlier, the Central Government had ordered all Pakistan nationals to leave India within 48 hours. Home Minister Amit Shah had communicated with Chief Ministers of various states, instructing them to identify Pakistan nationals and initiate deportation procedures. States were asked to compile and send information to the Centre to facilitate visa cancellations.
Previously, under the SAARC visa extension scheme, several Pakistan nationals were allowed to stay in India. However, the Centre has now ordered that all such individuals must leave the country within the stipulated 48-hour window.
