HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped Dharmpuri Municipal Commissioner Kandukuri Srinivas while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. Srinivas had been harassing Environmental Engineer Mahesh, who worked in the same office, demanding a bribe in exchange for releasing his pending salary.
According to officials, Mahesh had not received his salary for six months, and despite repeated requests, the commissioner refused to release the payment. Instead, he allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe to process the salary. Frustrated by the mental harassment, Mahesh finally approached the ACB for help.
Following a well-planned operation led by ACB DSP Ramanamurthy, officials set up a trap. On Thursday evening, as Srinivas accepted the bribe inside the municipal office, he was caught red-handed by ACB officers. The sting operation confirmed the corruption, leading to the immediate arrest of the municipal commissioner.
The ACB has registered a case against Srinivas and is conducting further investigations. Officials have urged government employees to report such cases and assured strict action against corruption in public offices.
