Hyderabad: Telangana’s Dial-112 emergency response system averted six major incidents across the state this July, preventing suicides, stopping harassment, rescuing a child, and containing a fire through rapid alerts and coordinated police action.
On July 3, a fire at Café Coffee Day in S.R. Nagar, Hyderabad, was brought under control after Dial-112 alerted local police and fire services. The blaze, triggered by a suspected short circuit, spread to upper floors but was doused within 20 minutes. Six people were rescued. One was hospitalised. No deaths were reported.
On July 5, a harassment alert from the T-Safe app flagged a man filming female passengers on the Devagiri Express near Mirzapalle. Dial-112 coordinated with Shankarampet and Kamareddy police and GRP Railway Control. The train was stopped at Kamareddy. The suspect was arrested with unauthorised photos and videos found on his phone.
On July 7, police prevented a suicide attempt at Bahadurpura Flyover after Dial-112 received a distress call about a woman preparing to jump. Responding officers reached the spot in minutes and pulled her to safety.
On July 10, an eyewitness reported a 9-year-old boy alone on the Kerala Express in Warangal. Dial-112 alerted Warangal GRP. The child gave his father’s name, which was traced via Instagram. With help from Chhattisgarh Police and the Pursoli village pradhan, the family was located. The child was placed under CWC care before being reunited with his parents.
On July 11, a man threatening to jump from a tower near the RTO office in Kondapur was rescued by Gachibowli Police following a Dial-112 call.
On July 15, Intezargunj Police in Warangal intervened in another suicide attempt at Deshaipet after a late-night emergency call.
All six cases were resolved through the Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TGERSS), which continues to operate as a statewide network for fast, coordinated public safety intervention.
