HYDERABAD: Renowned film producer and Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) Chairman, Dil Raju, has made a strong appeal for a unified movement against film piracy in the Telugu film industry.
Speaking at the re-release event of ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ on Wednesday, he expressed deep concern over the massive financial losses that producers continue to suffer due to piracy.
Dil Raju emphasised that despite investing crores into film production, piracy remains a major challenge, significantly impacting revenue. He pointed out that while piracy is widely discussed on a film’s release day, the issue is quickly forgotten by the following Monday. He also criticized the lack of involvement from leading actors and stars, questioning their indifference to the problem.
Stressing the need for a large-scale, industry-wide movement, rather than individual complaints, Dil Raju asserted, “As the Chairman of TFDC, I am ready to take the lead. All producers must unite in this fight.” He urged all filmmakers, including those currently working on projects, to actively collaborate and strengthen efforts against piracy to protect the Telugu cinema industry.
This call to action highlights the urgency of tackling piracy, which continues to undermine the financial sustainability of film production and distribution in the region.
