Hyderabad: Two people, including a doctor and a Rapido driver, died in a Begumpet road accident on Sunday morning when a speeding lorry rammed into their bike near Greenlands junction.
Police said the lorry hit the Rapido bike from behind, killing both men instantly. The impact threw the victims off the bike, leaving the vehicle badly damaged. Commuters alerted police after witnessing the crash.
Panjagutta police reached the spot soon after receiving information. They recovered the bodies and shifted them to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination. The driver of the lorry fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Police investigate cause of Begumpet road accident
Officials have registered a case and begun an investigation to identify the lorry driver and determine the cause of the accident. Officers said initial findings point to overspeeding. The sudden deaths cast a pall of gloom over the victims’ neighbourhoods as families mourned their loss.
