Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy on Thursday dismissed media reports suggesting delays in the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for Metro Phase-2(B), clarifying that the reports for the proposed extensions to Medchal, Shameerpet, and Future City have been finalised.
Reddy stated that the DPRs were approved by the HAML board on 8 May and are now pending review by the Telangana government. He emphasised that certain aspects remain confidential until state-level approval is secured, and hence full disclosure is not yet possible.
The planned expansion, under Metro Phase-2(B), includes three major corridors covering a total of 86.1 kilometres at an estimated cost of ₹19,579 crore. The corridors include JBS-Medchal, JBS-Shameerpet, and the Airport-Future City route.
According to the submitted DPRs, the JBS-Medchal line will be a fully elevated 24.5-kilometre route with 18 stations, while the JBS-Shameerpet stretch will span 22 kilometres, featuring 14 stations – 20.35 km elevated and a 1.65 km underground section near Hakimpet Airport.
The third corridor, from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) to Future City near Skill University, is proposed to be 39.6 kilometres long, comprising 1.5 km of underground tracks, 21 km elevated, and 17 km at ground level. This line is set to pass through Pedda Golconda and Raviryala Outer Ring Road exits.
NVS Reddy also highlighted that the development plan envisions converting the JBS Station into an international transport hub, in line with directives from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The Metro MD assured that the DPRs have been prepared in accordance with central guidelines and national cost benchmarks, and a comprehensive announcement will follow after state and central approvals are in place. (NSS)
