Hyderabad: Telangana Police’s Eagle Team busted a narcotics lab inside a closed school building in Old Bowenpally, recovering large amounts of Alprazolam, drug-processing equipment, and over ₹20 lakh in cash.
The raid followed a tip-off about a drug racket operating from the defunct Srimetha School. Jay Prakash Goud, a local resident, allegedly ran the lab with the help of partners from other states.
Police said the group was producing Alprazolam and Diazepam. These drugs are often mixed into spurious liquor to increase its intoxicating effect. The syndicate was supplying the narcotics to illegal liquor vendors across Hyderabad and Mahbubnagar.
Eagle Team busts drug lab in school, seizes narcotics and cash
The Eagle Team surveilled the location for two days before launching raids on Friday and Saturday. They seized narcotics worth over ₹1 crore, including a powder used to intensify intoxication. Officers also recovered processing machines and raw chemical stock.
Investigators found that the gang operated discreetly from within the abandoned school building. They believe the illegal activity had been ongoing for several weeks.
This bust comes just days after another major raid in Charlapally. In that case, a chemical factory in Navodaya Colony was caught manufacturing synthetic drugs. Mumbai Crime Branch officials had seized drug-making raw materials worth several crores.
Police arrest four, including ringleader Jay Prakash Goud
Police arrested Jay Prakash Goud along with three others. According to initial findings, the group targeted the local bootlegging network for distribution. Officers confirmed that the seized Alprazolam was meant for mixing into adulterated liquor sold in Mahbubnagar.
The Eagle Team is expected to release further details after completing formal interrogations and preparing charges.
