Hyderabad: East Zone police traced and returned 100 mobile phones reported as lost, stolen, or missing during the past month. The recovered devices, valued at around ₹25 lakh, were located using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and telecom data, following a coordinated drive with service providers.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr B. Bala Swamy, IPS, supervised the operation. The Additional DCP, Assistant Commissioners, Station House Officers, and technical staff from all police stations under East Zone participated actively in the recovery mission.
East Zone police use CEIR and telecom data to trace stolen mobiles
Police teams used real-time mobile surveillance systems and IMEI-based tracking to locate the devices. Through continuous coordination with telecom operators, investigators identified the owners and contacted them to collect their property.
As part of the initiative, a handing-over ceremony took place on 13 October 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the DCP East Zone office in Amberpet. Officials verified the IMEI numbers, supporting documents, and FIR details before returning the mobiles to their owners.
During the event, several beneficiaries thanked the Hyderabad City Police for their timely action and technological efficiency. Senior officials, including the Additional DCP, ACPs, and SHOs of East Zone, attended the function.
