Hyderabad: BJP MP Eatala Rajender on Saturday criticised the Congress party for what he called irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric aimed at the Election Commission. He accused Congress leaders of undermining democratic institutions and risking national security for political gain.
Speaking in Karimnagar, Rajender said the Congress could not selectively praise or blame the Election Commission based on electoral outcomes. “They won the Telangana elections through the same EVMs. If you win, the system works. If you lose, you blame the Commission. That logic is flawed,” he said.
He cited urban migration as a reason for voter list changes and defended the continuous correction process handled by the EC. “People move from villages to cities. Those staying in rented houses in Hyderabad often change constituencies. Updating and removing duplicates is routine,” he explained.
Rajender also condemned Congress criticism of the SIR (Special Summary Revision) drive in Bihar, warning against granting citizenship to illegal migrants. “It’s dangerous to compromise national security just to gain votes,” he said.
He reaffirmed faith in the Election Commission’s neutrality, noting that its actions follow Supreme Court guidelines. “The Commission is an independent body. These attacks on its integrity are baseless,” he added.
