Hyderabad: BJP Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender on Monday criticised HYDRAA officials for carrying out demolitions in Gajularamaram, accusing them of targeting poor families while sparing illegal constructions by powerful builders and political leaders.
During a visit to the site, Rajender inspected the demolished homes and interacted with the affected families. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government had uprooted families who had been living on the land for over four decades.
“The victims’ grandfathers, fathers, and now their children have lived here for generations,” he told reporters. “Instead of acting against encroachments by the powerful, HYDRAA is punishing the destitute.”
Rajender demanded immediate restoration of basic services like electricity and water to the affected residents. He pointed out that many among the victims were labourers, including individuals disabled from working in local gravel mill factories. He said the removal of electric poles had left children exposed to rain without shelter.
Calling the demolitions inhumane, he urged the state government to rebuild the damaged homes and provide new housing to the displaced.
