Hyderabad: The Election Commission doubled the annual honorarium for booth level officers (BLOs), marking the first revision since 2015, and introduced a new honorarium for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs.
In its order, the Commission said clean and accurate voter rolls are the foundation of democracy and praised the sustained effort of EROs, AEROs, BLO supervisors, and BLOs in maintaining them. “The electoral rolls machinery works with diligence and plays a key role in ensuring neutrality and transparency in voter list preparation,” the order stated.
The pay hike applies to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) involved in voter roll preparation and revision. BLO supervisors, who coordinate field operations, will also receive enhanced compensation. The Commission noted that this revision had been pending since the last adjustment in 2015.
For the first time, EROs and AEROs will be compensated with an honorarium in recognition of their critical supervisory role. Detailed revised pay structures were shared in the Commission’s release.
