Hyderabad: Officials in Jagtial district have launched action under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act after a 75-year-old woman was reportedly evicted from her home by her family.
T. Venkattamma, a resident of Rachapally village in Sarangapur mandal, was allegedly forced out by her daughters-in-law, Ganga and Gowthami. Despite her sons Jagan and Mahesh earning well overseas, they failed to provide her care or ensure her safety, according to the complaint.
The woman approached the Jagtial Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) with assistance from District Senior Citizens Association president Hari Ashok Kumar. RDO Madhusudhan instructed revenue staff to register a case and issue notices to the sons under the Senior Citizens Act.
Venkattamma has requested strict legal action against her sons and daughters-in-law for abandonment and mistreatment.
