HYDERABAD: A 70-year-old woman was brutally murdered for her gold chain and silver anklets in Bhupalpally district. The assailants tied her hands, placed her in a sack, and dumped her body in a well. The incident came to light in Garmillapalli village of Tekumatla mandal.
According to local sources, the victim, Sorapaka Veeramma (70), a resident of Boyininipalli near Garmillapalli, left home on June 19, informing her husband that she was attending a wedding in Garmillapalli. When she did not return by night, her family searched for her but found no trace.
On Sunday, villagers noticed a foul smell emanating from an old agricultural well near the Garmillapalli–Boyininipalli road. Upon inspection, they discovered a dead body and immediately informed the police.
Police Investigation and Suspicions
The police arrived at the scene and retrieved the body, later identifying it as Veeramma. Preliminary investigations suggest that unknown assailants attacked her while she was on her way to the wedding. They allegedly stole her gold chain and silver anklets before tying her hands, placing her in a gunny sack, and dumping her into the well.
The body was subsequently shifted to Chityal Hospital for further examination. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify the perpetrators behind the crime.
