HYDERABAD: Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Eravarthi Anil has criticized MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha’s recent statements regarding Telangana’s budget calculations. Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan alongside TPCC General Secretary Charan Kaushik Yadav, Anil asserted that Kavitha’s financial assessments are inaccurate, which he believes led to her defeat in Nizamabad.
Anil challenged Kavitha’s claim that Telangana’s debt stands at ₹4.5 lakh crore, stating that the actual figure is higher. He detailed that after the formation of Telangana, the state incurred debts including ₹90,000 crore, FRBM loans of ₹78,000 crore, SPV loans of ₹11,000 crore, and corporation loans of ₹5,000 crore. Anil emphasized that under the BRS administration over ten years, the state’s debt reached ₹7.28 lakh crore, with corporation loans alone amounting to ₹1.27 lakh crore, all guaranteed by the government.
He further criticized the previous administration for failing to provide timely retirement benefits to government employees, a practice that was customary in the past. Anil also highlighted pending payments, including ₹1 lakh crore for SC and ST sub-plans, outstanding bills, and subsidies for free agricultural electricity. He concluded by stating that the BRS government accumulated debts totaling ₹8.19 lakh crore during its tenure.
