Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and Telangana Foods Chairman M.A. Faheem on Thursday urged BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to cooperate with investigations into the Formula E race funds. He said KTR had downplayed the issue but continued to avoid appearing before agencies like the ACB, SIT, and CID.
At a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Faheem said ₹45 crore was moved from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to an account tied to the Formula E event. He alleged the transfer happened without cabinet approval. He further claimed that ₹44 crore from the same entity later reached the BRS via electoral bonds during the election period.
He asked whether diverting public funds without sanction and during the model code of conduct amounted to a violation. Faheem criticised KTR’s decision to stay at home during questioning. He said public officials summoned by agencies must appear and present evidence.
Faheem names BRS leaders and challenges legal stance
Faheem responded to BRS MLC K. Kavitha’s comments by urging KTR to answer questions from within his own party. He called for lie-detector or narco-analysis tests to uncover the truth and named T. Harish Rao and Santosh Rao as individuals who should take the tests. He added that KTR could undergo similar tests if necessary.
He accused the BRS of making public challenges and then seeking court protection once enquiries began. He pointed to BRS moves in the High Court and Supreme Court over the Kaleshwaram commission. If the cases were baseless, he asked, why go to court?
Faheem also recalled the “white challenge” at Amaraveerula Stupam and claimed KTR never turned up despite open invitations. He asked KTR to accept summons, provide documents, and clear his name. Faheem said avoiding provocation and cooperating with agencies would serve the public. If KTR proved innocent, Telangana citizens would acknowledge it.
