Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on counterfeit electronics, Hyderabad police have arrested four shop owners from Jagadish Market for allegedly selling fake Apple mobile accessories and violating copyright laws.
The accused Vikram Singh, Suresh Kumar Rajpurohit, Natharam Choudary, and Mohammad Sarfaraz were caught during simultaneous raids conducted by the Central Zone Task Force in coordination with the Abids police on Saturday.
Counterfeit Apple accessories worth nearly ₹1.01 crore have been seized, including ear pods, power banks, USB cables, batteries, phone back covers, and even Apple logo stickers. The fakes were so well-packaged, they looked almost identical to the real thing clearly meant to trick buyers into thinking they were getting authentic Apple products.
According to police, the operation was being run through marketing agents in Mumbai, who supplied the goods to sellers. These items were then passed off as genuine at local mobile shops, letting the accused cash in big by scamming unsuspecting customers.
Each of the four runs a separate mobile shop in the bustling Jagadish Market area. Their operations reportedly involved repackaging low-quality accessories with forged Apple logos before offering them to buyers at premium prices.
All four men—Vikram Singh of Shree Mataji Mobiles, Suresh Kumar of R.G. Mobiles, Natharam Choudary of Rajaram Mobiles, and Mohammad Sarfaraz of Sapna Mobiles have been booked under relevant sections of the Copyright Act.
The accused, along with the seized material, have been handed over to the Abids police for further investigation.
The operation was led by officers from the Task Force Central Zone and Abids PS under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Y.V.S. Sudheendra.
