Hyderabad: A fake educational certificate racket operating in the city was busted on May 12 by the South-East Zone Task Force in coordination with Mehdipatnam Police. Four individuals were taken into custody, and 108 forged educational certificates from various universities were seized along with four mobile phones.
The accused were caught while delivering the fake certificates near a government school close to Eidgah Grounds, First Lancer, within Mehdipatnam Police limits.
Among those arrested was Mohammed Mujeeb Hussain, 54, a resident of Phoolbagh, Chandrayangutta, who ran an educational consultancy and was allegedly the key figure behind the supply of fake certificates. Police said he sourced forged documents from contacts in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh—identified as Manoj Viswash (Kolkata), Ravinder (Meerut), and Ajay alias Mukesh (UP)—all of whom are currently absconding.
Also arrested were:
Mohammed Nasir Khan, 26, an IT employee from Tolichowki, who had obtained the fake certificates.
Mohd Al Baseer Rahmani alias Sohail, 45, a fitness trainer from Gudimalkapur, who acted as a mediator.
Zia-Ur-Rahman Siddiqui, 34, owner of a gym in Tolichowki, also involved as a mediator.
According to officials, the forged documents were being used for visa applications, overseas studies, and job placements in multinational companies.
The arrests were carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu (South-East Zone Task Force) and Inspector S. Mallesh (Mehdipatnam PS), with assistance from Sub-Inspectors Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, M. Madhu, K. Srinivasa Reddy, and other personnel from both departments.
