Hyderabad: An unidentified person deposited fake currency worth Rs 5,000 at an ATM belonging to a leading private bank located in SR Nagar, Ameerpet, police said on Friday.
According to reports, bank staffers Shravan Kumar and Sai Kumar Goud recently went to collect cash from the ATM when they discovered counterfeit notes in Rs 500 denominations inside the cash deposit machine.
They immediately alerted senior bank officials and informed the police.
Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the ATM premises, which showed an unknown individual posing as a customer and depositing the fake notes.
Based on a complaint filed by the bank manager, SR Nagar police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials are analysing the video to identify and trace the suspect.
