Hyderabad: With the summer sun finally relenting, Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park turned into a festive hub this Sunday, drawing more than 24,000 visitors—nearly triple its usual crowd.
Families from across the city and neighbouring districts poured in, eager to make the most of the cool spell and school break. Children chased each other past enclosures, parents snapped pictures, and picnic baskets reappeared on the Hyderabad zoo lawns after weeks of sweltering heat.
Ordinarily, the zoo clocks around 5,000 to 8,000 entries a day. But on this particular Sunday, its pathways were packed—not just with local residents but also international tourists and an increasing number of couples arriving for pre-wedding shoots. Birthday photo shoots, too, have become a regular fixture in recent weeks, lending the park a celebratory air.
Officials say the footfall has been steadily climbing with each passing weekend, thanks to the pleasant weather and summer vacations. And with more family-friendly events planned, they expect the crowds to hold strong through the season.
For now, the zoo isn’t just a home for animals—it’s Hyderabad’s favourite summer escape.
