Hyderabad: The shortage of urea in Telangana continued to trouble farmers on Tuesday as a farmer collapsed while waiting in line at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) centre in Gambhiraopet, Rajanna Sircilla district.
Farmer suffers seizures in queue
Pendala Mallayya, 46, from Gambhiraopet mandal, joined the queue early after hearing that urea stocks had arrived. While waiting, he suffered seizures and collapsed.
Fellow farmers rushed to help and gave him first aid. His family members, who were informed quickly, took him home from the centre.
Crisis continues across Telangana
For weeks, farmers in several districts have struggled to secure fertilizer. Many are leaving agricultural work aside to stand in long queues at cooperative centres. The shortage has caused widespread distress, with multiple cases of exhaustion and health complications.
Farmers are urging the state to act swiftly and ensure timely supply of urea. However, authorities have not yet announced additional measures to address the demand-supply gap.
