Farmers need not worry about urea supply, says Minister Jupally

Hyderabad: Minister for Agriculture Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday assured that the Telangana government is taking all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted urea supply to farmers. He addressed growing concerns over fertilizer availability during a review meeting at IDOC in Mahabubnagar district.

He directed district collectors to work closely with officials to prevent any supply disruptions. Rao also asked them to immediately release urea stocks held by private dealers to farmers. Additionally, he ordered legal action against those selling fake seeds or overpricing fertilizers.

Urea supply Telangana: Centre blamed for shortfall

To improve oversight, Rao instructed police to coordinate with agriculture officers. Each fertilizer shop, PACS, and Agro Seva Kendra will have an appointed officer throughout the crop season. This step aims to prevent malpractice and ensure smooth distribution.

He also asked officials to assess urea needs for the upcoming Rabi season on a district-wise basis. The state will compile these figures and send an indent to the Centre. According to Rao, Telangana required 9.8 lakh metric tons for the Kharif season. However, the Centre supplied only 6.6 lakh metric tons, resulting in a shortfall of over 3 lakh metric tons.

Furthermore, he accused opposition parties of spreading false propaganda on social media. He criticized them for undermining the government’s efforts and creating panic among farmers.

Rao urged farmers to remain calm. He emphasized that the government is actively working to meet all fertilizer requirements.
