Hyderabad, January 27: Farmers from Akunoor village in Cheriyal mandal approached MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, expressing grievances over the non-procurement of red gram at the local market yard’s purchase centre. The farmers conveyed their frustration, stating that despite bringing their produce to the yard, procurement had not started due to reasons such as delays in truck loading and lack of coordination.

The farmers met the MLA during his visit to Cheriyal for various programmes. Upon learning about the situation, MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy immediately contacted officials from the relevant departments, instructing them to address the farmers’ issues promptly.

He questioned the lack of follow-through after an elaborate inauguration of the procurement centre and directed authorities to ensure that all red gram brought to the yard is purchased without imposing unnecessary conditions. Additionally, he emphasized that farmers must receive the government-mandated support price for their produce.

The MLA urged officials to expedite the process, ensuring farmers’ concerns are addressed effectively and their produce is procured in a timely manner.
