Hyderabad: Two farmers from Siddipet and Rajanna Sircilla districts died by suicide after being unable to repay agricultural loans, police said on Tuesday.
In Siddipet district, 36-year-old Diviti Kanakaraju of Dharmajeepet village consumed pesticide at his residence on August 21. He had reportedly borrowed over ₹5 lakh for crop cultivation on his one-acre land but suffered heavy losses. Unable to repay the debt, he became severely depressed, according to the police.

Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Ellareddypet, but he died during treatment on Tuesday morning. Based on a complaint from his wife, Lavanya, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
In a similar incident, Satish (36), a farmer from Gajasingavaram in Rajanna Sircilla district, consumed pesticide in his field on the same day. He owned two acres of land and had taken a loan to dig a borewell for paddy cultivation, but it failed to yield water. Subsequently, he left the land fallow and purchased a harvester on finance, hoping for alternative income.
However, he struggled to find sufficient work and failed to clear his debts. His family shifted him to a hospital after discovering his condition, but he died during treatment on Tuesday. Police have registered a case and are probing the incident.
