KAKINADA: In a shocking incident in Kakinada district, a man killed his two young children before dying by suicide, reportedly due to concerns over their academic struggles.
The deceased, identified as Vanapalli Chandra Kishore from Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, was working as an Assistant Accountant at the ONGC office in Vakapudi, Kakinada.
According to reports, Chandra Kishore had traveled to his workplace along with his wife Tanuja and their two sons, Joshil (7), a first-grade student, and Nikhil (6), a UKG student, on the occasion of Holi. After reaching the office, he told his wife that he would take the children to a tailor for uniform measurements and asked her to stay back at the office.
However, instead of going to the tailor, he took the children home. There, he reportedly tied their hands and feet, then drowned them by submerging their heads in water-filled buckets. After killing his children, Chandra Kishore ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
When he did not return after 10 minutes as promised and failed to answer his phone, Tanuja grew suspicious. She, along with some colleagues, rushed home, only to find him hanging through the window. Upon forcibly opening the door, they discovered the lifeless bodies of both children, their heads submerged in water-filled buckets, with their hands and feet bound.
The police reportedly recovered a suicide note in which Chandra Kishore reportedly mentioned that he was deeply troubled by his children’s inability to cope with academic competition. He expressed that they had no future, which led him to take the extreme step.
However, Chandra Kishore’s elder brother refuted financial distress as a reason, stating that his brother was financially stable, owned assets, and was not the kind of person to take such a drastic step. He urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
