Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty announced a new system under which FIR copies will be delivered directly to complainants through WhatsApp. The move aims to end the need for citizens to visit police stations and request copies of their complaints.
Two months ago, the commissioner introduced a special service for citizens above 60 years, ensuring delivery of FIR copies to their homes. After receiving positive results, he extended the facility to the general public as well. He instructed all police stations in the commissionerate to begin sending FIR copies via WhatsApp to complainants.
FIR copies on WhatsApp to ease public access
Avinash Mohanty explained that citizens had faced difficulties in collecting FIR copies by visiting police stations and approaching officials. With the new system, complainants can access documents from home without delay. He stressed that the reform would make the process simpler and more transparent.
The commissioner noted that officials had already received directions to implement the system across all police stations in Cyberabad. He added that the service would soon be fully operational. According to him, the initiative demonstrated the police department’s effort to use technology for citizen convenience while also improving efficiency in complaint handling.
