Hyderabad: A fire accident at Meerpet sparked panic in Sai Ganesh Nagar Colony after flames broke out in a welding shop and spread rapidly to neighbouring commercial units.
The blaze, reported around noon, engulfed adjacent car mechanics and denting shops before emergency services arrived. Locals alertedthe fire and police departments as thick smoke and flames rose from the cluster of shops, triggering an alarm in the residential neighbourhood.
Three fire tenders were deployed to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before bringing it under control. Preliminary investigation suggests a short circuit may have caused the fire, police said.
Meerpet police registered a case and are examining the electrical and safety equipment inside the affected shops to determine the exact cause. No casualties were reported.
Residents urged authorities to conduct regular inspections and enforce fire safety compliance to prevent further incidents.
