HYDERABAD: A fire broke out on Saturday in a building on the premises of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), prompting the swift evacuation of patients and staff to safer locations.
The fire erupted in an unused quarter located behind the newly constructed Millennium Block. According to the Fire Department, the building did not have an active power supply, significantly reducing the likelihood of a short circuit. Officials described the cause of the fire as suspicious and suggested the possibility of arson.
NIMS authorities stated that the affected building housed old medical records that had been kept for disposal. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all patients were safely relocated to other wards.
The Fire Department responded promptly, containing the blaze and preventing further damage. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
