Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in a furniture and cushioning factory in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district, leaving behind property damage estimated at over ₹10 crore.
The blaze broke out near Vangayagudem, right across from a cancer hospital, where flames quickly consumed the Sushmita Furniture and Cushioning unit, triggering panic in the area.
Firefighting teams reached the site after receiving an alert and began efforts to contain the blaze. Thick smoke and intense flames were visible from a distance, prompting traffic restrictions in the area.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. It is still unclear whether any workers were inside the facility when the fire began. Fire officials said efforts were underway to bring the situation under control and assess the structural damage.
According to the factory owner, goods, machinery, and stock worth upwards of ₹10 crore were destroyed. Police and fire authorities have cordoned off the area, and a full investigation is expected once the fire is fully extinguished.
