Hyderabad: Five men died after suffering electric shocks during the Ramanthapur Krishnashtami procession in Hyderabad on Sunday night, when a chariot touched overhead electric wires.
The accident happened around midnight in Gokulenagar, Ramanthapur, where residents were celebrating Sri Krishnashtami. After the vehicle towing the chariot broke down, a group of young men stepped in to pull it manually. As they moved it forward, the chariot came into contact with high-voltage wires, sending electric shocks through nine participants.
Krishna Yadav (21), Suresh Yadav (34), Srikanth Reddy (35), Rudravikas (39), and Rajendra Reddy (45) died instantly despite attempts to revive them with CPR. Others rushed four injured men, including Srinivas—a gunman attached to Union Minister Kishan Reddy—to a nearby private hospital.

Police took the bodies to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. So far, authorities have not released any official statement regarding the safety failures. The fatal mishap has left residents and devotees in deep shock.
