Hyderabad: Five individuals, including two ganja peddlers and three consumers, were caught by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force during a joint operation with Karkhana Police. The suspects were attempting to sell ganja near Dhobi Ghat in Secunderabad.
Mohammad Sharik Jalil Kureshi, 35, a butcher from Chandrapur, Maharashtra, carried 1 kg of loose ganja. Known as a habitual offender and rowdy-sheeter, he had previously faced criminal and narcotic charges. Due to his repeated offences, a local magistrate had banned him from entering Chandrapur.
Sharik, along with Mubeen the main supplier who remains at large planned to deliver ganja to local peddlers in Hyderabad. Love Preet Singh, 28, a fruit vendor from Bowenpally, executed the logistics. He rented a red Suzuki S-Presso (TS 08HT 5887), drove to Chandrapur, and bought 150 ganja packets weighing 500 grams for ₹15,000. On his return, he picked up Sharik to expand their sales network in Hyderabad.
Authorities intercepted the vehicle and recovered the ganja hidden in the car’s spare wheel compartment. Alongside Sharik and Singh, police also apprehended Chandana Jaswanth, Yelasani Harish, and Sangi Sharath three consumers residing in Bowenpally.
The task force confiscated 1.5 kg of ganja, five mobile phones, and the vehicle used for transport. Officials estimated the total value of the seizure at ₹3 lakh.
Inspector P. Raghavender (North Zone Task Force) and Inspector V. Ramakrishna (Karkhana PS) led the operation, assisted by sub-inspectors Sainath Reddy and Lakhan Raj, along with other personnel.
