Hyderabad: Irrigation officials opened two additional crest gates at the Singur multipurpose project on Saturday, releasing 43,176 cusecs of water into the Manjeera river as inflows surged due to heavy catchment rainfall.
Three gates had already been opened on Friday. With the lifting of gates 6 and 10, a total of five crest gates are now discharging floodwaters. The project received over 24,000 cusecs of inflows on Saturday morning, and engineers indicated that levels would continue rising through the day.
