HYDERABAD, February 12: Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Bhupal Reddy was detained by police in Narayankhed, Medak district, on Wednesday during a protest concerning road construction delays. Reddy, along with several villagers, demonstrated on the state highway, demanding the completion of road projects tendered during their administration.
The protest saw significant participation from BRS members and local residents, leading to substantial traffic disruptions as numerous vehicles were halted. Upon receiving information, senior police officials arrived at the scene and attempted to pacify the protesters, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Consequently, at Manglapet, authorities detained Bhupal Reddy and transported him to the Narayankhed police station.
During this time, Reddy expressed his frustration, stating that although tenders were issued and all necessary approvals obtained during their tenure, certain Congress leaders were obstructing the road construction. He criticised the Congress party, labelling it as an impediment to development. He further highlighted that villagers had been awaiting road construction for two years and questioned the reasons behind the delays.
As of now, there have been no official statements from the Congress party regarding these allegations. Developments are ongoing, and further updates are anticipated as the situation evolves.
