Former Maoist leader welcomed home with grand celebrations in Mancherial

Hyderabad: Villagers in Telangana’s Mancherial district gave a rousing welcome to Lachanna, a former Maoist leader who returned home after four decades in the underground movement.

Lachanna, a native of Parpalli village, surrendered to the police along with his wife recently. Once a prominent figure in the Maoist ranks, he had disappeared into the jungles nearly 40 years ago.

His return triggered a wave of emotion and festivity in the village. Locals gathered in large numbers, beating drums and showering flower garlands as they welcomed him back. Childhood friends and old acquaintances embraced Lachanna, many moved to tears by the occasion.

Emotional scenes unfolded as villagers reminisced about the past and expressed joy over his safe return. Lachanna’s homecoming has drawn significant attention in the area, marking a rare moment of celebration after years of insurgency.
