HYDERABAD, February 1: Former Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy has demanded that the state government purchase groundnuts brought by farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). On Saturday, he visited the agricultural market in Jogulamba Gadwal district and inquired about the prices being offered to farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Niranjan Reddy criticised the Congress government, alleging that it had failed to ensure MSP for farmers. He stated that under Congress rule, farmers were being forced to protest on the streets due to their distress.
He further remarked that even after nearly a year in power, the Congress government had failed to satisfy any section of the population. Warning against any injustice to farmers, he declared that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would launch large-scale protests if the government did not take necessary action.
BRS leaders Hanumantu Naidu and Kuruva Pallaiah were also present during the visit.
