Hyderabad, January 29: Former Vikarabad MLA Methuku Anand has alleged that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has handed over Ananthagiri forests to Megha Krishna Reddy for Rs 1,000 crore. Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, he criticised the government’s decision.
Anand questioned why Revanth Reddy, who had previously compared Megha Engineering to the East India Company, was now signing agreements with the same firm. He pointed out that Megha is an engineering company, yet the government has entrusted it with setting up a wellness centre in the forest region. He warned that a public movement would soon be launched against the alleged land transfer.
He also took aim at the state’s infrastructure development, stating that roads in Vikarabad remain neglected while the Chief Minister boasts about bringing Rs 1 lakh crore in investments. Additionally, he accused the government of failing to understand basic public health issues like tuberculosis and leprosy.
Anand further alleged irregularities in the Indiramma housing scheme, claiming that beneficiaries are being asked to construct the basement before receiving financial aid. He questioned how SC and ST families could afford such expenses. He criticised the selective implementation of welfare schemes, stating that while some villages receive projects, municipal wards have been left out.
He also opposed linking Indiramma Aatmiya Bharosa to the employment guarantee scheme, arguing that landless labourers should receive Rs 12,000 each, regardless of job card status. He claimed that the government is giving people less than promised while extracting more in return.
On reservations, Anand demanded that local body elections be held only after ensuring 42% reservations for BCs. He warned that if elections proceed without increasing reservations, BC communities should prevent Congress leaders from entering their villages.
