Hyderabad: Former Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa BRS returned to the party on Thursday, ending months of speculation over his political moves. He joined along with his brother Krishna at party president K. Chandrashekar Rao’s residence in Erravelli.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao welcomed the two leaders with party scarves.
Konappa had contested the 2023 Assembly elections as a BRS candidate but lost to the BJP nominee in Sirpur. In the same constituency, RS Praveen Kumar contested unsuccessfully on a BSP ticket before later joining BRS. Konappa, reportedly upset by his induction, left BRS and shifted to the Congress.
He remained inactive in the Congress for some time before deciding to return to his old party.
Konappa first entered the Assembly in 2014 as a BSP candidate. In 2018, he won again, this time on a BRS ticket.
