Four arrested for Raidurgam murder and robbery of Bihar youth

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested four persons, including two juveniles, for the murder and robbery of a 24-year-old CCTV technician from Bihar. The group attacked the victim with rods and stole his mobile phone while he walked home.

Victim beaten after resisting phone snatching

Saurabh Kumar, a resident of Prashanthi Hills in Raidurgam and a native of Madhubani, Bihar, was targeted after midnight on November 11. He was returning from work on foot when the accused offered him a lift near Road No. 45 in Jubilee Hills. As they reached the Jubilee Hills Convention Centre, they tried to snatch his mobile phone.

Saurabh resisted and hit one of them. A crowd began to gather, and the attackers fled. Later, they regrouped at a nearby restaurant and planned to retaliate. They followed Saurabh to a deserted stretch near FDDI College in Raidurgam. After picking up metal rods from a construction site, they ambushed him and struck him on the head before escaping with his phone.

Saurabh succumbed after three days in hospital

Police rushed to the scene after receiving a Dial 100 call. They shifted the injured man to Osmania General Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU. Despite medical care, he died on November 13 at 11:04 p.m. The case, initially filed as attempted murder, was reclassified as murder and robbery under Sections 103 and 309(6) r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police nab four suspects, recover stolen items

Raidurgam police arrested Mohammed Rehaan (19), Mohammad Ibrahim Ahmed (19), and two juveniles on November 17. All four are residents of Hakeempet, Hyderabad. During interrogation, Rehaan confessed to selling the stolen Vivo phone to one Salman alias Faraz for ₹2,000.

Police recovered the stolen mobile, two bikes used in the attack, and four other phones linked to the crime. A special team of detectives, supported by the Zonal Tech Team and local police, led the investigation under the supervision of DCP Madhapur Ritiraj, IPS.

Officers are continuing the probe to check the gang’s links to other unsolved crimes.
