HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has announced the commencement of the Gaddar Film Awards, inviting entries from filmmakers across various categories.
Introduction of Gaddar Film Awards
The Gaddar Film Awards have been established to recognize and honor excellence in the Telugu film industry. Named after the celebrated balladeer Gaddar, these awards aim to encourage and acknowledge outstanding contributions to cinema.
Categories Open for Submission
Entries are invited in the following categories:
– Feature Films: Awards for the best films from each year between 2014 and 2023, covering years when awards were not presented.
– Films on National Integration: Recognizing films that promote unity and national harmony.
– Children’s Films: Celebrating cinema made for children.
– Films on Environment, Heritage, or History: Honoring films that highlight environmental issues, cultural heritage, or historical events.
– Debut Feature Films: Encouraging new filmmakers by recognizing outstanding debut works.
– Animation Films: Acknowledging excellence in animated cinema.
– Social Impact Films: Highlighting films that address social issues and create a positive impact.
– Documentary Films: Recognizing non-fictional storytelling in cinema.
– Short Films: Celebrating concise storytelling in a shorter format.
– Books or Analytical Articles on Telugu Cinema: Honoring literary works that provide insights into Telugu cinema.
– Individual Awards for Artists and Technicians: Recognizing contributions in various technical and artistic roles within the industry.
For the first time, awards for Urdu-language feature films have been introduced, reflecting the state’s commitment to linguistic diversity.
Application Details
Applications for the Gaddar Film Awards will be available starting March 13, 2025, at the Telangana Film Development Corporation office located in A.C. Guards, Hyderabad.
Filmmakers and authors are encouraged to submit their entries to celebrate and promote excellence in cinema.
