HYDERABAD: Authorities in Gajularamaram on Saturday carried out demolition operations on government land that had been illegally encroached upon and used for unauthorised constructions. The land, located in Survey No. 79/1, was originally allotted in 2009 to the State Housing Board Corporation for the construction of Rajiv Swagruha housing units.
During the Congress regime, several apartment blocks were constructed on the site. However, after the formation of the TRS government in 2014, the remaining open land was left unattended and eventually became vulnerable to encroachment.
Over the past decade, a significant portion of the land has been illegally occupied. With unauthorised structures still under construction, officials from the Revenue and Housing Board departments, with support from police personnel, conducted a joint demolition drive. Among the structures razed were two tin-roof sheds, two rooms, and a partially constructed slab house.
Following the operation, Housing Board officials installed a government signboard marking the land as property of the Housing Board. They also declared that those responsible for the encroachments would face legal consequences.
The demolition was overseen by Quthbullapur Mandal Revenue Inspector Kaleem and Housing Board Assistant Engineer Nandakumar, among others.
