HYDERABAD: Police have busted a high-profile gambling racket at a farmhouse in Pudur, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where influential individuals were found playing cards under the protection of guard dogs.
Acting on a tip-off, SOT police raided the farmhouse on Sunday. On arrival, police were briefly obstructed by guard dogs stationed to prevent intruders from entering. However, the officers managed to gain access and arrested 18 individuals engaged in the gambling session.
The accused reportedly include political leaders from various parties and real estate businessmen. Police seized 12 vehicles, including four Range Rovers, one BMW, and two Innova Crystas, along with ₹4.5 lakh in cash and a substantial quantity of liquor.
All those arrested were taken to the Medchal Police Station. Medchal Circle Inspector Satyanarayana confirmed that a case has been registered and the seized vehicles have been impounded. The farmhouse is said to be owned by a person named S. Srinivas Rao.
Police continue their investigation into the backgrounds of the accused and are verifying the ownership of the seized assets.
