Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu IPS on Saturday laid out a clear action plan to ensure smooth and safe Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and idol immersions across the Commissionerate.
During a video conference with officials, he emphasized that Ganesh Chaturthi is one of Telangana’s biggest festivals. He called for strict planning and coordination to prevent any disturbances during the festivities.
Early coordination for hassle-free celebrations
The Commissioner asked officers to meet mandap organisers in advance to review idol installation plans. He underlined the importance of working closely with GHMC, fire services, irrigation, medical, power, and transport departments. This, he said, would help avoid last-minute confusion.
He also asked officers to act quickly on Dial 100 calls and maintain a visible police presence. CCTV coverage should be expanded, he said, and officials must remind organisers that DJs are not allowed at mandaps.
To manage crowds, police should help set up queue lines at large mandaps. The CP also urged organisers to use plastic sheets to avoid electric shocks and take steps to prevent short circuits near idols.
Police stations must collect full details of all Ganesh pandal organisers. He directed teams to coordinate with electricity officials to ensure steady power supply and avoid any fire risks.
Watchful eye on law and order
Sudheer Babu ordered regular surveillance of rowdy sheeters and anti-social elements. He told officers to strengthen security in sensitive areas and set up pickets where needed.
Full arrangements for immersion day
For the immersion process, police will deploy extra personnel, swimmers, cranes, floodlights, and barricades. The CP instructed GHMC to provide lighting, tents, drinking water, mobile toilets, and sanitation at key water bodies. He asked departments to finish road repairs and power connections in advance.
He also directed traffic police to monitor vehicle movement and ease congestion during the event. All teams must work together to make the festival safe and dignified.
DCP SB G. Narasimha Reddy, DCP Crimes Aravind Babu, DCP Admin Indira, and other senior officers joined the video call.
