GHMC Chief orders swift action at water-logging hotspots to ease traffic flow

water-logging hotspots

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Tuesday instructed Central Zone Chief Engineer Ratnakar to prioritise action at key water-logging hotspots in the city to prevent traffic disruptions during rains.

The directive came during an evening inspection at Lakdikapul alongside Traffic Joint Commissioner Joel Davis. The team reviewed persistent water-logging areas near Mehdi Function Hall, PTI, and Chicha Restaurant, where accumulated rainwater had already been cleared by engineering staff.

Officials noted that due to the narrow stretch and uneven road levels, vehicles heading from Mehdipatnam were moving slowly, leading to frequent traffic congestion. The issue was raised jointly by the Traffic Joint Commissioner and GHMC Commissioner.

Karnan directed engineering staff to urgently resolve the road level difference and begin laying CC roads in the area. He also instructed the team to explore the feasibility of adding an extra lane to ease the bottleneck. The Commissioner emphasised that traffic should not be hindered due to infrastructure gaps, particularly during the monsoon.
