GHMC Commissioner Implements Key Administrative Reforms to Improve Efficiency

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner K Ilambarithi has launched a series of administrative reforms aimed at improving the corporation’s efficiency and public service delivery. These measures include staff transfers, promotions, and stricter work guidelines for all employees.

As part of these reforms, the Commissioner has mandated the transfer of permanent employees who have held the same position for over five years. This decision is intended to introduce fresh perspectives and prevent administrative complacency. On Saturday, transfer orders were issued for 139 sanitary personnel, relocating them to their preferred nearby circles after spending more than five years in the same location.

Addressing Administrative Issues

The administrative wing of GHMC plays a crucial role in governance, second only to the Commissioner’s office. However, concerns had been raised regarding delays in employee promotions and inaction on staff transfers under the previous Additional Commissioner, Nalini Padmavati. Employees and union leaders had expressed dissatisfaction over these issues, prompting Commissioner Ilambarithi to take corrective measures.

Extensive Staff Transfers and Promotions Planned

The Commissioner is now focusing on officials who have held their posts for over five years, with plans to restructure staff assignments across various levels. The transfers will affect operators, attendants, record assistants, junior and senior assistants, superintendents, assistant municipal commissioners, and deputy commissioners.

In addition to transfers, GHMC is preparing for promotions of eligible employees, including record assistants, junior assistants, senior assistants, and superintendents. A preliminary list has already been compiled, and vigilance officers are currently reviewing it to address any objections before finalizing the transfers and promotions.

Enhancing GHMC’s Operational Effectiveness

These reforms underscore Commissioner Ilambarithi’s commitment to strengthening GHMC’s administrative framework and ensuring efficient service delivery to the public. By implementing strategic transfers and promotions, GHMC aims to enhance its operational effectiveness and better serve the residents of Hyderabad.
