Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Monday instructed officials to act swiftly and responsibly on public grievances submitted during the corporation’s weekly Prajavani programme. The session was held at the GHMC headquarters, where residents from various localities presented their complaints.
Karnan reviewed the representations and directed the concerned departments to initiate immediate action. He stressed that all officials must examine each complaint thoroughly and ensure resolution without delay. He also asked departments to improve coordination to prevent repetition of complaints on the same issue.
During the session, GHMC received 78 complaints at headquarters, including 45 for town planning, 13 related to tax, 4 on sanitation, 3 for the engineering wing, 2 for HMWSSB, and one each for land acquisition, finance, legal, and vigilance sections. An additional 7 complaints were submitted via phone.
Across the six GHMC zones, a total of 146 petitions were registered. Kukatpally zone recorded the highest with 57, followed by Secunderabad with 53, Serilingampally 17, Charminar 8, LB Nagar 6, and Khairatabad 5.
Senior officials present at the programme included Chief Engineers Ratnakar and Nityananda, Additional Commissioners Venu Gopal, Satyanarayana, Yadagiri Rao, Venu Gopal Reddy, Pankaj, Nalini Padmavati, CCP Srinivas, and Additional SP (Vigilance) Srinivas. Town Planning CCPs Venkanna, Gangadhar, Pradeep Ranjith, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Padmaja, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Abdul Wakeel, and several deputy engineers, SEs, and officials from housing, SNDP, estate, and advertisement departments also attended.
