Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday toured the Secunderabad Assembly constituency, where he met with residents and local officials to assess the state of civic amenities in the city.
Participating in Telangana Formation Day celebrations at a private school in Addagutta division, Kishan Reddy later interacted with residents and listened to their grievances. He immediately directed the officials accompanying him to address the issues on priority.
Speaking to the media, the minister lamented that development works in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Metro Water Works departments had come to a standstill due to a severe funds crunch. “GHMC is unable to even replace burnt streetlights, let alone take up major projects,” he said.
Kishan Reddy noted that residents in Jawahar Nagar bastis and nearby colonies had complained about drinking water, electricity, community halls, roads, and drainage. “I have directed the officials to ensure prompt action on these issues,” he said.
Highlighting the dire situation, he pointed out that each municipal corporation division is only able to supply 40 streetlights due to the lack of funds. “This exposes the sorry state of affairs,” he said.
He criticised the state government for prioritising extravagant spending while ignoring essential development works. “The government has funds for lavish events, but not for streetlights or clean water,” he remarked.
ESIC Sanathnagar is now delivering top-end medical care, catering to around 3,000 patients in OPD and 900 patients in the specialty wing on a daily basis. Under @narendramodi‘s government, dedicated efforts are being made to introduce more specialised healthcare services.
