GHMC Mayor urges Hyderabad residents to stay alert amid heavy rain

Hyderabad: As heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of the city since Thursday evening, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has urged residents of Greater Hyderabad to stay alert and avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary.

Addressing the public on Friday, the Mayor advised citizens to report emergencies through GHMC’s helpline at 040-21111111 and the HYDRA helpline at 90001 13667. She instructed civic officials to remain on high alert and respond swiftly to complaints, particularly those related to waterlogging and blocked drains.

Mayor Vijayalakshmi also warned residents against opening manholes and urged extra caution near nalas, especially for the elderly and children. Monsoon emergency and HYDRA teams have been directed to be on standby and act promptly on field complaints.

She reiterated that residents must avoid unnecessary travel during intense downpours and follow all civic advisories for their safety.
